Banquet Manager
The Hyatt Place Lenexa City Center is looking for an exceptional individual to fill the position of Banquet Manager. This individual will be responsible for the supervision of the banquet captain and banquet servers and the coordination of food, beverage and setup services for our Banquet Department. The ideal candidate would have experience in managing a catering department. This is a Full-Time Salaried Opportunity with quarterly bonus potential.
Banquet Manager
The purpose of the Banquet Manager is to efficiently run the department in line with RHW and Hyatt Standards, while meeting employee, guest, and owner expectations. The Banquet Manager should represent the hotel publicly, both in the general community and business community as well as be actively involved in the success of the conference center. The Banquet Manager will be the liaison between the conference center and vendors. The Banquet Manager will ensure banquet functions are set up, managed efficiently, and cleaned up while providing courteous, professional, efficient, and flexible service at all times.
Duties
- Train and coach banquet staff.
- Obtain and schedule outsourced and internal staff.
- Schedule and assist/supervise event room set-ups, service, and maintenance of all banquet functions and equipment.
- Assist/supervise with the refreshing of meeting rooms and food and beverage services.
- Oversees reporting during and post-event to include consumption and captains’ reports.
- Assist/supervise audio visual services and equipment services.
- Organize inventory, pars, ordering of food and supplies.
- Ensure that staff has all supplies needed to efficiently run the conference center.
- Responsible and accountable for banquet event bars, cash banks, liquor distribution, inventory (nightly and monthly).
- Maintain all event files in an orderly and usable manner.
- Regulate food, labor and liquor costs.
- Manage external vendors onsite and in preparation for events (i.e. ordering of equipment, linen, etc.)
- Make decisions regarding last minute event issues with the approval of the Sales Team.
- Available to work on call and accessible via cell phone in emergencies unless otherwise excused.
- Must complete Alcohol and Food Service Training.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws as well as all operating procedures.
- Responsible for accurate billing of event food and beverage at the end of the events.
- Maintain an image of professionalism and competence to guests, clients and hotel personnel at all times.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- 2+ years in a leadership role
- Hospitality experience preferred
- Computer Proficiency
- Customer Service Driven
- Excellent Communication Skills
